Create a fluffy spider using glue, a large pom pom, pipe cleaners, and a pair of googly eyes. These spiders are easy to make, and you can decorate them any way you like. Attach a string to hang the spider from the ceiling. A group of spiders hanging down from the ceiling, or arranged on your buffet table, will look great when you are hosting a Halloween party!
Large Pom Pom.
Pipe Cleaners (any colour).
Glue (or glue gun).
Pair of Googly Eyes.
Felt, craft foam, or paper for a mouth.
Straight pin and thread (if you want to hang the spider).
Start your spider craft project with the Large Pom Pom and 2 Pipe Cleaners.
Cut the pipe cleaners in half (or any equal lengths), to have four shorter pieces (for extra long legs use four pipe cleaners without cutting it). Trim the sharp points at the ends of the pipe cleaners. Ask an adult to help with the cutting and trimming of the pipe cleaners.
Align the four pipe cleaners to make eight spider legs, then tie them together in the middle with a short piece of pipe cleaner.
Fan out the legs, and bend it downwards at roughly the same point. The legs must be able to stand upright on a flat surface.
Glue two (or more) googly eyes on the pom-pom (spiders can have as many as eight eyes!)
Cut out a mouth from craft foam or felt, and glue it on below the eyes.
Use a straight pin and thread if you want to hang the spider.
Glue the pom pom onto the middle of the pipe cleaner legs. Let the glue dry before you start playing or decorating with your adorable spider/s. I recommend a glue gun instead of project glue for faster results (an adult must assist with this task).
