Whether you are expecting your first bundle of joy or require classes to learn how to start raising your little angel, Birth Right offers antenatal classes for expecting mothers-to-be, postnatal classes for first time parents as well as the ever important immunisation and vaccine services for newborns at our baby clinic. We also offer a quick course for the antenatal class in case you are passed the 30 weeks of your pregnancy and require help and an understanding of what to expect. We believe that when you are expecting, the key to a successful result is the preparation.
Antenatal Classes: There are 2 courses available: the 7 week course and the crash course.
7 Week Antenatal Course
It is recommended that you start this course between 24 and 30 weeks of pregnancy.
Course Outline:
- Session 1: End of pregnancy, packing list for hospital, when to go into hospital.
- Session 2: Normal delivery and labour.
- Session 3: Ceasarean section and pain relief.
- Session 4: Care of the newborn.
- Session 5: Infant CPR and Choking.
- Session 6: Breastfeeding.
- Session 7: Post delivery changes and first few weeks at home.
Crash Course
This course runs over 2 Saturdays. The course outline is slightly different due to the time allocated so only essentials will be covered. Course Outline:
- 1st Sat: Labour, normal delivery, ceasarean section and pain relief.
- 2nd Sat: Care of newborn, breastfeeding basics, postpartum recovery.

Stretch marks are a form of scarring on the skin with an off-color hue. They are caused by tearing of the dermis and over time can diminish but not disappear completely. Stretch marks are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth like pregnancy. To prevent stretch marks rub olive oil onto your skin or put a few drops of Bio Oil into your bath from day 1!
Being 4 Weeks pregnant meens that the ball of cells dividing in your uterus can now be called an embryo, about the size of a watermelon pip. The next five weeks are critical to your baby’s development. The rudimentary placenta and umbilical cord deliver nourishment and oxygen to the baby. They are already functioning by 4 weeks. It’s a great idea to start an exercise routine now. Exercise helps you develop good muscle tone, strength and endurance. It also helps you manage the extra weight you’ll put on and gets you fit for labour. Choose a safe, moderately vigorous activity you enjoy like walking, Yoga or swimming.
