The Potchefstroom Medi-Clinic Hospital is a multidisciplinary private hospital located in Potchefstroom in the North West Province. The hospital is conveniently situated within easy reach of major arterial traffic routes. The 24 Hour Emergency Centre is constantly manned by highly-qualified trauma personnel, including a doctor. Patients have access to all hospital facilities and associated specialists. Seriously-ill patients will be treated immediately.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Highly specialised and dedicated medical and nursing personnel play an essential role in the treatment and constant care of premature babies. The unit sets no lower weight limit – the smallest baby born here, who was successfully discharged, weighed a mere 680g at birth! The unit offers high- and intensive-care beds, of which two are in special isolation units, and is equipped with a high-frequency oscillator ventilator, used for treating premature babies with as little damage to the lungs as possible. The unit promotes and utilises kangaroo nurturing, in which the mother holds her baby under her clothes and close to her body to promote parent-child bonding.
Specialised clinics include a Pre-admission centre.
